A house for everyone

DATE: vari
Imagine living in a mud and straw hut, with no electricity, heating or running water. Imagine the arrival of the rainy season: the hut becomes a water tank and it is impossible to find any shelter. You cannot sit down, lie down, eat, study and these difficulties persist for days on end. Most of the rural population and the people in the ghettoes of India live in these conditions. Missione Calcutta works so that needy families can live safely under a roof with four brick walls around them. They are simple houses with a bathroom and kitchen, a rarity in certain areas. Simple houses, yet with solid foundations, built in compliance with local regulations. Up until now, we have built numerous houses, for example we have built fifty of them in the village of Cirimunidanga, near the Azimganj institute that we have been supporting for years through our child sponsorships. Near Oodlabari, where the large school of  Missione Calcutta is located, we have built an entire village after the original one was destroyed by the monsoons. These are just some examples of all the houses financed by Missione Calcutta and spread throughout the Indian continent. The cost of each house varies from 1,500 to 3,000 euros, according to the territory, the size, the type of house and the difficulty of the work. Thanks to our supporters, in 2015 we were able to build 6 houses, double the number of the previous year.
