A well for life

LOCATION: various
DATE: Various
Water is life and the lack of drinking water is, perhaps, the worst affliction in India, most of all because it leads to numerous other diseases.
For more than twenty years, Missione Calcutta has made sure that this prime necessity is always available, by providing wells of different types and for various uses: from a simple artesian well to satisfy the needs of a family, to models with a tank and a trough that are ideal for large institutes and even wells that have such a high capacity they can satisfy agricultural and stock-farming requirements. Our ambitions include the completion of a project to supply drinking water to the villages of Sunderban, an area of Calcutta in which the population still has to make long journeys by boat in order to fetch it. Each well costs between 1,500 and 4,000 euros, according to its structure and characteristics. In 2014, we built 10 wells and in 2015 the number rose to 12. Our aim for 2016 is to increase the number of wells built, thanks to the generous donations of our supporters.
