HÉLÈNE EHRET VISION CENTRE
Free Eye Examinations
The Hélène Ehret Vision Centre was founded in 2004 by Missione Calcutta, in collaboration with the Lions Club of Sajjapuram and the Lion’s Eye Hospital in Nidadavole, an advanced hospital for the treatment of ophthalmic diseases.
The Centre was established with the aim of providing free screening for the inhabitants of the Indian village of Tanuku and surrounding villages.
Every year the centre organises “Eyes Days”, which are days of free examinations for those in need, with an average of 800 patients. After the examination, held by the doctors of the Lion’s Eye Hospital, the most serious cases are taken to the hospital, where they are treated free of charge.
