On Saturday, June 17, Missione Calcutta received the ‘Building the Future Bergamo 2023’ award from the homonymous Foundation.

The initiative, in its third edition, was created to reward medium-small organisations of the Third Sector that respond daily with generosity and commitment to the needs of the entire community. Specifically, this year’s objective was to support projects of social and cultural value with financial contributions ranging from 1000 to 5000 euros.

Missione Calcutta applied to the Foundation’s competition, with a project dedicated to Casa Hélène (House Hélène), a functional and welcoming facility located in Bergamo. This facility will become a centre for educational and recreational activities for children and young people, guiding them in discovering their talents and developing their abilities.

The proposal submitted was judged very positively by the committee established for the occasion, and for this reason, a recognition of 1000 euro was given.
With the received amount, some spaces in House Hélène will be set up for activities involving mothers and children. Specifically, the donation will contribute to the purchase of two touchscreen monitors for use in innovative and inclusive educational programs, as well as some creative and engaging educational games (language games, logic games, mathematics games).

These resources will enable children and young people to always have new stimuli, even during playtime. For Missione Calcutta, attentive and appropriate education is an essential right of children that must be protected every day.
