DIGITABC
Between language literacy and digital literacy
The DigitABC project, supported by the Intesa Sanpaolo Charity Fund, takes an integrated approach to tackling educational poverty and the digital divide, with a focus on children and their parents or primary caregivers.
Language literacy activities are designed for children of migrant backgrounds attending Calvino and Manzoni primary schools, part of the “Muzio” school district in Bergamo. The goal is to strengthen their Italian language skills and support their integration into both the school environment and the broader community. To this end, the project offers in-school Italian language courses and afternoon recreational workshops that use play-based learning to make language acquisition engaging and inclusive. These workshops are open to all children from both schools, fostering a collaborative and enriching learning environment for everyone.
In parallel, the project also provides digital literacy programs for adults—specifically parents and caregivers. These programs aim to build confidence in using digital tools and online platforms, helping participants become more autonomous and informed. By strengthening their digital skills, the initiative enhances parent–child communication and promotes better life opportunities across generations.
