TOGETHER FOR UKRAINE
ASSISTANCE TO MOTHERS AND CHILDREN FLEEING FROM WAR
Almost immediately after the outbreak of the conflict that sadly involved Ukraine, Missione Calcutta Onlus, thanks to the synergic collaboration with CADIS (Camillian Disaster Service International), the Polish Province of the Camillian Fathers and other associations in the country, took part in a project to secure and set up a reception centre for Ukrainian refugees in the Polish town of Łomianki-Buraków, not far from the city of Warsaw.
Right here, surrounded by greenery and far from the noise of the city, and from the torment of sirens and alarms, is located the seminary of the Polish Province of the Camillian Fathers, used as a temporary shelter for Ukrainian mothers and children finding refuge in Poland.
Currently, about 30 people of different ages live in this facility, but the goal is to provide shelter for about 50 people. Approximately half of the guests are children between the ages of 6 months and 14 years.
In addition to renovating and setting up the building, Missione Calcutta is working to provide support for the daily needs of the adults and children who are and will be housed in the facility, ensuring that they can find shelter and comfort.
The project is implemented in cooperation with CADIS, Health and Development, Pro.Sa Foundation, Cesmet Foundation, MADIAN Orizzonti Onlus and the Polish Province of the Camillian Fathers.
