QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

  • WHAT IS THE REMOTE SUPPORT OF A CHILD?

    It covers everything the child needs, it includes the supply of: food, clothes, medicines, education, stationery and presents for all the children of the same school on special occasions. The support is valid for all the primary and secondary schools until the age of 18, unless the child’s family moves.

  • HOW MUCH IS THE CONTRIBUTION?

    The monthly contribution is 20 euros. Less than 70 cents a day for you are equivalent to an entire existence for a child in need. That is less than the cost of a cup of coffee to change a life and provide a future full of possibilities.

  • HOW LONG DOES THE COMMITMENT LAST?

    As all moral commitments, remote support has no time limits: thousands of children are waiting for our help. The sponsor can withdraw at any time, but it is important to let us know immediately, so that we can find a new source of help for the child no longer supported.

  • ARE WE SURE OF THE SUCCESSFUL USE OF OUR FUNDS?

    We are certain. We are in daily contact with our local partners in India and our operational headquarters in Calcutta. We know them personally and they know the children you are helping. The communication will be constant and you will be able to see, with your own eyes through photos and videos, the smiles you are able to create with your support.

  • CAN I SEND A PACKAGE, A PHOTO, A POSTCARD, OR A LETTER TO THE CHILD?

    In order not to favour any child, and for logistical reasons, it is better not to send packages.
    A colourful postcard or a photo of you will be very much appreciated by the child.
    Send them to:
    Missione Calcutta – Via G. Marconi, 26 – 24020 Scanzorosciate (BG),
    indicating the child’s code, and we will forward them.
    Please do not include money and send correspondence by registered mail, the cost of it could feed an entire family for at least three days.

  • NEWS ABOUT THE CHILDREN

    News about the children are sent every year before Christmas.
    The sponsor receives a letter written by the child (or by the head of the institution in cases where the child is too young to write or has a disability), accompanied by a recent photograph of the child.

  • ARE THE PAYMENTS TAX-DEDUCTIBLE?

    Since Missione Calcutta is a non-profit Organisation, the contributions for remote support are deductible from the income tax return, provided they are paid through a postal order, bank transfer, bank check, or SDD (SEPA Direct Debit).
