HEALTHCARE FOR SAFETY AND REHABILITATION

HUMANITARIAN DEMINING

The proposed intervention, led by Missione Calcutta APS ETS, falls within the Humanitarian Demining sector. The 12-month project will involve three regions of the country: Ivano-Frankivs’k, Transcarpathia, Kharkiv.

The intervention aims to raise awareness among the local population about the existence and danger of landmines, mostly located in the eastern part of the country.
In addition, the project aims to strengthen: healthcare management in acute emergency situations, healthcare support, and the capacity to provide assistance by linking hospitals in Ukraine and Italy, promoting continuous training for Ukrainian doctors in the field of psychophysical rehabilitation.

The main activity will be the transportation of civilians injured by explosive devices from two hospitals in the city of Kharkiv (Regional Clinical Hospital – Kharkiv; V. T. Zaizev General and Emergency Surgery Institute of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine – Kharkiv) to the San Luca Clinic in Ivano-Frankivsk, with medical support from the IRCCS Ospedale Sacro Cuore Don Calabria in Verona and the Sant’Orsola Polyclinic in Bologna.

Healthcare for Safety and Rehabilitation will include the purchase of medical materials and equipment to establish the rehabilitation department at the San Luca Clinic in Ivano-Frankivsk, which will accommodate all those who have suffered severe physical injuries caused by explosive devices and more.
The project also includes the renovation of the ground floor of the Public Hospital in Yasinya (Transcarpathia region) to set up a dedicated rehabilitation ward in this facility as well.

The project is carried out in collaboration with:

  • FOCSIV (Federation of International Voluntary Service’s Christian Organisms)
  • FAV (Let’s Help Them Live Foundation)

And with the technical support of:

  • Regional Clinical Hospital, Kharkiv
  • V. T. Zaizev General and Emergency Surgery Institute of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Kharkiv
  • Sant’Orsola Polyclinic, Bologna
  • IRCCS Ospedale Sacro Cuore Don Calabria, Verona
